A self taught musician until the age of twenty-three, Jocelyn Rasmussen has a diploma in jazz performance and composition and a Master of Music in classical vocal performance.
Having performed popular, jazz, opera, art song, oratorio and orchestral works, she has developed and teaches a vocal technique that functions for any style of singing as well as for speaking.
Recovering from thyroid disease taught her about healing vocal dysfunction; studying the work of medical intuitives and sound healing practitioners has helped her to understand the relationship between the voice and healing all aspects of ourselves.
She has taught a wide array of students ranging in age from 3 to 75 that includes professional singers, actors, corporate executives, sales people, lawyers, motivational speakers, therapists, people with severe depression, East Indian classical singers, Jewish cantors, rappers, mothers needing more confidence in their marriage, people with vocal trauma, and others with life-threatening illness.
As well as developing workshops for singers, she has developed seminars for speakers. She has presented seminars and spoken at the New York Open Center, the Learning Annex in New York City, the Possible Woman Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, Pfizer, Inc international conference in New Jersey, Corcoran Real Estate, New York City, and LaGuardia College, New York City.
She gave seminars at Culver City College in Los Angeles and has also presented staff development seminars for teachers in New York City.
Jocelyn contributed to LEADERSHIP: BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT by Paul B. Thornton.
Her article, “The Voice as Spiritual Ally,” appears in the May/June 2007 issue of Mystic Pop Magazine.
Other writing to date has been as a composer, lyricist, and speaker. She performed her original works at the United Nations for the Conference of World Religions and for the 50th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Human Rights; at St. John the Divine for the Women of Vision's Prayer Service for World Peace and for After Hiroshima; at the Lawyers’ Alliance for World Security Peace Awards; at the Artists for Humanity Concert; and at the Time for Peace Awards.
Carol Eikleberry has included an item about her in her latest revision of THE CAREER GUIDE FOR CREATIVE AND UNCONVENTIONAL PEOPLE.
She has been interviewed by Star Magazine, US Weekly and was invited to speak at the New York International Music Festival in 2005.
Whether singing or speaking, regardless of age, status or circumstance, her work with the voice and the breath releases the authentic voice and full potential of her clients.
Whether as an executive voice coach or a specialist at a day school, she hears the glory of each of the voices she is privileged to work with and her mission is to call the voice of conscious communication in everyone.
