solstice. time pauses
my soul greets the new season
winter's end begins

Time to stop, let go,
sit quietly, empty mind,
listening to frogs...

Young girl
watering trumpet flowers
such sweet innocence!
night comes early now
those golden summer days, gone
persimmons, red leaves
marine fog tonight
like smoke from last summer's fires
winter closes in
november fire
flickers in the plum tree
full moon tonight
the night is restless
with warm santa ana winds
and summer memories
on the dark threshold
one dry brown sycamore leaf
on its way to...where?
haiku is practice
perfect mindfulness
centered in the now
I'm loving what is
being here in the moment
listening to the frogs
four in the morning
thousands of crickets chirping
where did summer go?
if only the world
could feel this peace everywhere
this divine moment
what do those owls say,
whoo, whoo, whooing in the night?
for fun, I hoot back!
here's how to begin today:
us. now. heart to heart
storm over, frogs are back
hawks celebrate clean blue sky
the land breathes again
